Growing Resilient Youth In Transition (GRYT)

Supporting youth offenders in their reintegration journey

Growing Resilient Youth in Transition (GRYT) service is a pioneer effort by Trybe, to support youth offenders and probationers when they are discharged from rehabilitation or probation institutions back into their homes and community, so as to reduce the risk of re-offending. Our clients are supported through casework and mentoring, to build resilience and self-coping skills in their journey towards success.

Trybe is currently partnering with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and National Council of Social Services (NCSS) to provide the GRYT Service to high risk youth probationers. Our eventual intent is to expand the coverage of the service at a national level to other youth offenders and probationers.

Empowering our youths so that they are able to make responsible decisions through

Building Positive Skills, Experiences and Behaviors

Research has shown that the more positive skills, experiences and behaviors that are built in the youths, the more they are able to thrive. GRYT focuses on building these positive assets in the youths so that they are less likely to engage in risky behaviours such as abuse of alcohol intake, violence and drug activities.

Building Strong Families

Strong family support is integral to the rehabilitation of the youths. Trybe believes in building family support for the youths to help them in their rehabilitation journey.

Building Strategic Relationships

By reaching out and building relationships with our community partners (prospective employers and schools), our youths can contribute positively in their families and in the society.

“All these will not be made possible without people like you, who believe and did not give up on us. If not for you, I would not have been able to hold those keys (to my home) in my hands yesterday or open our new door of hope. No words can express how grateful I am.”

“I saw how (the GRYT caseworker) as a “stranger” fought for my son and family. I wish with all my heart that Ronald* will never forget what he had learnt. I want him and his brother to follow in the case worker’s footsteps to help troubled kids and their families, just like how he has helped us.”
