- Emotions & Coping: Anger management, emotional regulation, grief, loss, and coping habits like device overuse, self-harm, or perfectionism
- Trauma & Healing: Recovery from past trauma or difficult life experiences

Feel free to reach out if you are wondering whether we can support a specific situation not listed here.
While the terms are often used interchangeably, they tend to focus on different depths of support. Counselling generally focuses on navigating specific challenges, like life transitions, school pressure, or relationship struggles. Therapy (or psychotherapy) often dives deeper into long-standing patterns, emotional regulation, complex trauma, or mental health conditions like addictive behaviours or chronic anxiety and depression.
All Trybe Counselling & Therapy team members are clinically trained and accredited to provide both. We blend these approaches seamlessly, tailoring the depth of support to what the young person needs at any given moment – whether they need practical coping strategies for a tough week or deep-dive healing for past experiences.
Each young person is unique, so we don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach.
The first one or two sessions will focus on building trust, better understanding what brought you in, and setting comfortable, realistic goals together.
Subsequent sessions are tailored to the individual's needs and communication style:
- For those ready to talk through challenges: We use evidence-based conversational approaches, including Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
- For those who find it hard to talk, or who are working through complex emotions: We use creative and body-based tools like art, sandplay, expressive therapies, or somatic techniques to help process feelings safely without pressure.
- For deeper trauma or stress management: Specialised trauma modalities like EMDR and Somatic Experiencing are integrated where appropriate.
You can expect a secure, confidential environment where you are met with empathy and the work proceeds at your pace.
Confidentiality is foundational to our work, and information is never shared with schools, external institutions, or other third parties without explicit consent.
Many clients benefit from parental support while attending sessions. At the same time, therapy only works if the young person has a safe, private space where they can express themselves freely. Here is how we balance privacy and parental involvement:
- For clients under 21: Your therapist will talk to you first before sharing anything with your parents or guardians. We don't share the details of private conversations, but may share overarching themes and practical ways they can support you better at home if this is helpful. We work hard to get your consent and buy-in for this.
- For clients 21 and older: Your sessions are completely confidential between you and your therapist, and any parent or family involvement is optional.
The safety exception: We may be obligated to break confidentiality in situations where there is a serious risk of harm to the client or to others, or if required by law (e.g. a court subpoena). When safety allows, the therapist will speak openly with the client about this first.
Every therapist on our team is trained in a diverse toolkit spanning four core dimensions:
- Cognitive: Approaches like Trauma-Focused CBT, Choice Theory / Reality Therapy (CTRT), and psychoeducation help clients understand themselves and their stress responses better, and change unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs.
- Emotional & Creative: Modalities like Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy and Play Therapies help clients of all ages to process deep feelings and build emotional regulation.
- Somatic: Body-based tools like Somatic Experiencing (SE) and EMDR help to release stress and trauma stored in the body.
- Relational: Modalities like Narrative and Expressive Therapy help the client feel seen, experience a safe, caring connection, and better navigate other relationships in their lives.
This allows us to tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs, age, and comfort level. We also find that engaging the “whole brain” or “whole person” in therapy supports deeper and more lasting change.
You can explore individual therapist profiles on this page to see the specific modalities and certifications each practitioner brings to their work.
While Trybe provides compassionate, evidence-based counselling and therapy, we do not issue official medical diagnoses or prescribe medication.
Formal diagnoses and medical treatments require comprehensive clinical evaluations typically conducted by a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist. If you or your child are already seeing a medical professional, or need to find one, we are happy to collaborate and coordinate care with them.
We match clients with a therapist based on their specific goals, the topics they want to work on, and appointment availability. You can also request a specific member of our team if someone stands out to you.
The client-therapist relationship is one of the most important factors in ensuring a successful outcome, so if the fit doesn’t feel right after the first session, please let us know and we will do our best to smoothly transition you to another team member.
Sessions are $170 per hour (inclusive of GST). We also offer sliding scale (subsidised) slots for those with financial need. You can find more details in the Pricing section above.
We offer sessions across two convenient locations in Singapore: our Tampines centre (near Tampines East MRT) and our Pearl's Hill centre (near Chinatown MRT). You can find full addresses, operating hours, and other details in the Location section above.
Most of our sessions happen in person at our Tampines and Pearl's Hill centres. This ensures confidentiality and gives you full access to all the therapeutic tools and materials we provide.
However, we are able to offer online sessions if there are special needs or circumstances that require it. Please let us know about these needs when you speak with us, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Yes, depending on your relationship with the individual:
- Parents & Guardians: You can sign up directly on behalf of your child.
- Referring Professionals: School counsellors, doctors, caseworkers, and other professionals can submit a formal referral through our Registration Form.
- Friends, Relatives, or Others: To respect individual privacy and consent, we encourage clients to reach out for themselves. However, if you are worried about someone and aren't sure how to help them get started, please reach out to us and our team will gladly advise you on the next steps.
